Her biological parents are Adam Mwale and Patricia. Adam is a farmer from a small Malawian community, but her mother Patricia was a homemaker, who died a day after giving birth to her twin children. Sources indicate she died due to excessive bleeding.
Her father is originally from the village, of Kayembe. He supposedly abandoned his daughters and children to marry another lady after the death of his wife, Patricia.
While Mwale remarried two years after Patricia’s death, Estere along with her five biological siblings in addition to Stella, all now aged between 10 to 25, excluding the other twin, were left ignorant.
Eventually, Madonna adopted Estere in 2017, she and her twin sister were four years old.

In Feb 2017, The Malawi High Court granted the guardianship of Estere and her sister to Madonna.
Madonna took to her Instagram to announce the adoption of Estere Ciccone and her twin sister, Stella Ciccone.
Before the adoption, Stella and Estere were living in the Mchinji orphanage. It lies near the western border of Zambia. David Banda also once used to reside there.
Why did Madonna decide To Adopt More Children?
When asked what was her reason for adding more children to her brood, the Multiple Grammy laureate responded to the feeling not enough children “dancing in her Kitchen.”

Estere Ciccone’s Biological Father Denied That He Agreed To Give Madonna His Daughters
In an interview with Daily Mail in Feb 2017, the same month Madonna adopted Estere and her sister, their biological father claimed he didn’t realize their takings were permanent.
Mwale accused Madonna of lying to him and permanently taking his twin girls to the US.
He explained Madonna’s publicist had told him the pop queen liked the twins and wanted to take them, educate them, and after that, they would be coming back to his community in Malawi.
‘That cannot be true,’
Mr. Mwale insisted adding how he believed the singer was merely fostering the girls.
He stated he had only agreed on the premise that it would be a good chance for the children. During the court hearings, Madonna’s team and several other locals condemned Estere’s father for abandoning his children shortly after their mother’s death.
Mwale, on the other hand, said he, himself took them to the orphanage and would visit them often.
Madonna, though, hasn’t replied to Mwale’s charges.
