Jamie Durie is a qualified horticulturist best known for hosting The Outdoor Room, an Australian lifestyle program. He is also a landscape designer and the founder and director of PATIO Landscape Architecture & Design, an international award-winning firm.

Aside from that, he is a best-selling author. Jamie is without a doubt one of Australia’s most recognizable talents, having received several Australian TV Logie Awards, including Most Popular New Male Talent.

He was also named to the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list in 2001 as the recipient of the Australian Centenary Medal for his contributions to Australian society and television.

48-year-old Jamie was born in Australia on June 3, 1970. He grew up in the mining town of Tom Price in northwestern Western Australia.

Jamie developed a strong connection with nature while growing up in a naturally blessed town. Jamie was inspired to create amazing outdoor living spaces by the beautiful Australian landscape, his lifestyle based on Sri Lankan heritage, and his passion for Eastern culture.

So he formalized his interest in horticulture by studying in Sydney.

Career and Professional Life

Jamie founded the landscape design firm PATIO Landscape Architecture and Design in 1998 after completing four years of horticulture and design study. However, in 2010, the name PATIO was changed to Durie Design.

Jamie Durie, in addition to being an entrepreneur, is the author of eleven books, including The Outdoor Room, 100 Gardens, Outside, Inspired, Outdoor Kids, The Source Book Editions 1 and 2, The Outdoor Room, and Patio.

Jamie has also hosted many of Australia’s top-rated television shows, including The Outdoor Room, Australia’s Best Backyards, and Backyard Blitz.

Jamie also hosts The Victory Garden, America’s longest-running gardening program, which airs on PBS.

Jamie and Michelle’s relationship, however, did not last long as they split up. Nonetheless, Jamie has a close relationship with his daughter, Taylor. Taylor is also following in her father’s footsteps and pursuing a career as a floral designer.

Jamie dated television presenter Terasa Livingstone in 1997, immediately after her breakup with Michelle. Later, the couple became engaged, but their relationship ended without explanation.
