Garrett Haake is an Emmy Award-winning reporter and multimedia journalist who works for MSNBC. As a network Washington correspondent, he has covered everything from Congress and the White House to campaigns and hurricanes.
Garrett, a distinguished graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, began his career in 2009 as a desk assistant at NBC Nightly News in New York.
Garrett Haake is married to Sara Murray, CNN’s White House correspondent, whom he met in Iowa while covering Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
They had no idea they were so close and fell for each other while following Mitt Romney around America.
Garrett eventually proposed to Sara in 2015 during a Thanksgiving dinner with her family in her Michigan hometown. Obviously, his lady love responded with a resounding ‘Yes!’
In Austin, Texas, the two journalists exchanged wedding vows in a magical fusion of elegant and rustic ceremony. Garrette, ever the romantic, gave Sara a sapphire bracelet that matched her engagement ring.
For the most part, 22 April 2017 will be remembered as a special day because it was the day they celebrated their love under the stars with their loved one by their side.

Parents, and Family
Garrett, 34, celebrates his birthday on April 14th every year. He grew up in Texas, where he shared many happy childhood memories with his parents. Unlike his professional career and marital affairs, his early life has remained hidden from public and media scrutiny.
His Instagram feed, on the other hand, is filled with pictures of his family and close friends on special occasions. This allows his fans and followers, who adore him for his works, to get a glimpse into his personal life as well.
On June 18, 2019, he and his look-alike brother, Jack Haake, visited their father and had a late Father’s Day dinner at Bryant Park.
The Haake-trio, all handsome and seemingly of similar height, smiled for the camera, and the subsequent shot would have made an ideal family portrait if they had invited the lady of the house.
Education and Salary
Garrett applied his formal education to his career and excelled at his first job, working as a researcher and eventually as an associate producer, producing many Emmy-nominated news stories, leading the graphics team, and covering national news.
Furthermore, in June 2011, he joined NBC News, where he covered the 2012 presidential election on television and online for all NBC News platforms.
He also became a part of some of the most prominent media outlets, including KSHB-TV and WUSA-TV, establishing himself as a prominent reporter to watch in the industry.
From his affiliation with MSNBC, the passionate and source-driven professional storyteller earns a sizable salary.
