Craig Melton is a business salesperson and former soccer player/model. He is the ex-husband of Glennon Doyle, an author and activist best known for her #1 New York Times bestsellers Untamed, Love Warrior, and Carry On, Warrior.
Melton and Doyle were married for 14 years, from 2002 to 2016, and had three children. Their love chapters propelled Doyle to the top of the bestseller list.

Melton, Craig Early Childhood and Education
Mr. Melton was born in the month of April 1975. While he doesn’t talk much about his father or mother except when they’re together, Melton does have a sister, Nicole Stracener. He also attended Lake Braddock Secondary School, according to the records.
Craig earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from George Mason University, where he later earned a Master of Science in Telecommunication Management. Melton was also a member of George Mason’s Men’s Division I Soccer Team.

After completing his education, the Hispanic part-time soccer player served as an account executive at Savvis Communications, Herndon, Virginia.
He later worked as a senior account executive with Windstream Communications Telecom in Herndon. In June 2004, Doyle’s ex-husband would depart the Windstream and start working for Deltek as a sales director. He stayed for four years before transferring to SpringCM, a DocuSign subsidiary, to work as an enterprise sales representative.

Melton returned to Privia as an enterprise sales representative from November 2011 to December 2016. Following that, the former husband of the New York Times best-selling author joined DecisionPoint Corporation as vice president of new technologies. He returned to work as an enterprise salesman for Visible Thread after serving there for less than a year.
Melton has been working in enterprise sales for Prevail, a cyber security company, since February 2021.
Craig’s Ex-Wife, Glennon Doyle, How Did They Meet?
Craig met Doyle at an all-day bar crawl in Washington, DC on July 4, 2001. The latter was 24 years old at the time, while the former was a brawny part-time model and semi-pro soccer player.
Glennon and Craig, the former wife and husband, slept together the first night they met and began “drinking and drugging regularly,” the Burke-born writer admits in her 2013 memoir, Carry On, Warrior.
Not long after, Glennon swiftly found herself pregnant but she would opt to abort the baby. Craig offered to pay, but she turned him down, stating, “I’ve got it.”
Several months later, on Mother’s Day 2002, the James Madison University graduate found out she was pregnant for the second time. She made certain that she would not abort the child this time.
“There on the floor, I became aware that I would have this baby,” Glennon writes in Love Warrior. She likewise soon gave up her addictions. The Ted Ex speaker married Craig soon after, wearing a rhinestone tiara and high heels to the ceremony.
Glennon says she married “a man I’d known for ten sober nights” in a ceremony in his childhood property in Burke.

Craig and the Love Warrior writer welcomed a newborn boy called Chase shortly after their wedding. The three made their home in Fairfax, Virginia. Glennon then began taking Lexapro and working as a preschool teacher.
In 2006, she and the former soccer player turned salesman welcomed another child, a girl called Tish Melton after Glennon’s mother. Craig and Doyle became parents for the third time two years later, in 2008, when they welcomed Amma, named after the author’s sister, Amanda.

Doyle claims in her book that she and Craig split up after Craig admitted to having an affair during a therapy session.
The schism between Doyle and Melton began just as the former Momastery writer was ready to achieve a significant breakthrough in her writing career. She had only recently begun to garner unexpected praise for her book of essays, “Carry On, Warrior.”
Within a week of posting them on Facebook, she was getting calls from New York book agents, and ten publishers were bidding for her first book’s rights. Her book debuted at No. 3 on the New York Times bestseller list in April 2013 and eventually sold more than 200,000 copies.
However, the week before Doyle Melton was to go on the road to promote it, her spinning world skidded to a standstill after Craig admitted he’d been cheating on her throughout their marriage.
Prior to it, they supposedly were also battling with communication and sex. The Best All-Around at Social Media winner additionally blamed Craig’s porn habit and illicit one-night hookups. Doyle’s simmering resentments and reluctance with physical contact were perhaps some of the issues.
Glennon writes she and Craig though recovered from all that — through rage, sadness, self-exploration, so much counseling, and finally, grace. Doyle detailed the difficulty of her marriage with Craig and how they salvaged it for a while on her second memoir, Love Warrior.
In the book, she discusses her ex-husband’s adultery while the memoir itself closes with the Virginia native and Craig standing on the beach facing the Gulf of Mexico, renewing their vows.
They Broke Up After Glennon’s Coming Out
Despite adultery and subsequent reconciliation, Doyle would break up with Craig between mid to late 2016.
She did so by first sending her an urgent text message one afternoon, indicating she had something very significant to talk. The father of three characterizes the message as somewhat of a 911 call, “like Code Red.” He ran home, on the way, thinking, whether Glennon had cancer, or if she had become gay.

While he experienced a sense of relief when he found out it wasn’t cancer, the wave of “sadness, perplexity, and anger” arrived when Doyle explained to him about her sexual orientation. She moreover apparently disclosed to him about her relationship with Abby Wambach, a woman, celebrity soccer champ, Olympian, Activist, and Author.
Of that moment, Craig says,
“I thought we had been doing things the proper way. Both of us had been working on ourselves. We’d entered a phase that was intended to be a new life for us. It was a shock. It felt like the end of the world.”
The dark-haired former model, however, felt he had little choice but to embrace his new situation. Glennon was then scheduled to publish her second book. Craig was as understanding as he could be and now he has joint custody of the children with the member of the Fast Company Queer 50 list.
Craig Melton Is Friends With Glennon’s Current Partner
In the present, Craig, Abby, and Glennon are virtually the perfect incarnation of good co-parenting.
In fact, Melton and Abby, the current wife of his ex-partner occasionally serve as the co-mentors of their children’s soccer team. Abby also carries a genuine affection for her wife’s ex-husband, Craig. Of the Psychology student, she remarks,
“Craig gave me the largest gift in allowing me into the family dynamic,” recalls Wambach. “He gave the kids permission to love me.”
Wambach and Craig have even played together on the same adult-league soccer club. Reportedly the famed talk show host, Oprah Winfrey was also among the first few people with whom Glennon had revealed about her coming out and her relationship with her current spouse, Abby.
In fact, before going public with her sexual orientation and her love for Wambach, Oprah had said to the viewers, ‘Get ready. The bloodbath will be tomorrow.’ The next day, Glennon, announcing her coming out, uploaded a selfie on her Facebook page of her and Abby captioned the image with,
“Feels like the world could use all the love it can get right now. So now, I’m going to share with you my new passion. Her name is Abby. You might recognize her from soccer.”
The bulk of Untamed writer’s admirers supported her. Melton and Wambach announced their engagement in Feb 2017, with a Facebook post showing off two very dazzling engagement rings. They married in May of this year.
Does Craig Have A New Wife?
While Doyle presumably can’t be much more happy and pleased with her new soccer coach boyfriend, not so much has been in the conversations about her former male marriage, Craig Melton.
Although she once on her Instagram announced, the father of her children was also dating somebody, she didn’t say who Craig’s then-partner was.
In any event, it now seems the relationship might be finished way ago as it’s been a while since Craig last talked about having any such love partner on his socials. Either that or the soccer coach is keeping his love life all to himself solely.
