In January 1980, Hauer had a run-in with Persis Khambatta. Khambatta was an Indian model who died on August 18, 1998, at the age of 47, in Bombay, Maharashtra, India.

Rutger Hauer, Ineke Ten Kate’s Husband, Died
Rutger Hauer was born on January 23, 1944, in Breukelen, Netherlands. Rutger Oelsen Hauer is his complete name, and his beautiful moniker is The Dutch Paul Newman.
According to the BBC, the actor died on Friday, July 19th, at his home in the Netherlands, following a brief illness. On Wednesday, July 24th, his body was laid to rest. In 1971, he was interested in social matters as an ardent supporter of the environmental organization Greenpeace.
He was also the founder of the Starfish Association, an AIDS awareness non-profit. Hauer is survived by his fifty-year-old second wife, Ineke, and a daughter, Aysha Hauer.
