Her father coordinates vocational and technical education and serves as an assistant coach for the North Mecklenburg boys’ team. Her mother attended UNC Greensboro for dramatic arts, is a North Mecklenburg alumna, and is a former educator. After college, her mother wanted to pursue a career in acting but struggled to get started.
In her family, Darby also has an older sister by the name of Ruthie.
TV shows and movies
Darby was incredibly inventive and self-assured from a young age; she began acting when she was only a toddler. Her mother Lacy recognized her aptitude and instructed her agency to start applying for parts for her. Screaming Child 2 was Darby’s first appearance on the television series Door to Door in 2013. At the age of six, she secured her first job as Daisy Bowen for Drop Dead Dive a year later. The series centers around a dull want to be model who was killed in a vehicle accident. She is resurrected, nonetheless, as a smart, chubby lawyer who is searching for the definition of inner beauty.
Following her first break, Darby was given the opportunity to play Sky in the TV film The Summers Sisters. She also played Young Patti Levin in the television series The Leftovers from 2015 to 2017. Darby played Erin Miller in Grey’s Anatomy and Big Little Lies as Chloe Mackenzie, the on-screen daughter of Reese Witherspoon (2017–2019), shortly after finishing the series in 2017. In addition, she participated in four films the next year, including Benji, The Christmas Chronicles, When We Last Spoke, and Dreamland.
She has finished filming for The Christmas Chronicles 2 and Calm Before as of 2020, while Clifford the Big Red Dog is currently in post-production.
