Zuri isn’t afraid to share details about her personal life. Whether it’s her depression or a breakup, she’s not afraid to talk about it.
The actress shared her story on Instagram on September 9, 2018. She spoke candidly about her path to becoming an actress. Zuri packed her belongings and began driving from Atlanta to Los Angeles to pursue her MFA in acting in 2013.
Zuri and her boyfriend split up in Phoenix as she set out for her dream. She then experienced depression and fear as a result of the demands of her new graduate school.
Tammy Warren, a friend, provided her with a place to stay and assisted her in finding a new home. Zuri frequently credits her sister-like friends with guiding her through difficult times.
In an August 2018 post, she thanked her sisters for encouraging her to recognize herself and said,

She attended Spelman College in Atlanta and the British American Drama Academy in London, where she studied and trained. Zuri then went on to earn her MFA in Acting and BA in Drama from UCLA’s School of Theatre, Film, and Television.
She is one of eight actors in the university’s inaugural interdisciplinary graduate acting program pursuing a creative degree.
Appearance in ‘Good Trouble’
Zuri is preparing for her upcoming 2019 series-regular debut in order to expand her TV show credits. She makes her Freeform debut as Malika in Good Trouble. Good Trouble is a spinoff of the popular television show The Fosters. The spin-off will premiere on January 8, 2019. Zuri co-stars with Roger Bart, Maia Mitchell, Cierra Ramirez, Tommy Martinez, and Sherry Cola on the show.
Zuri is more than ecstatic about his first starring role. On the day she finished her first episode of Good Trouble, she posted a photo on Instagram with nothing but wise words. In the captions, she wrote,

The first season of Good Trouble will consist of thirteen episodes. It follows the lives of Mariana Adams-Foster (Cierra Ramirez) and Callie Adams-Foster (Maia Mitchell) in Los Angeles.
Zuri’s personality Malika is an outspoken activist. Her persona, like Callie and Mariana, grew up in foster care. She’s one of their new neighbors since moving into The Coterie.
