Violinist Tyler Butler Figueroa won the “Golden Buzzer” in America’s Got Talent season 14 in 2019. He returned to the show’s spin-off, America’s Got Talent: The Champions 2, and placed in the “Bottom 5” of the “Top 10.” This time, he received votes and advanced to the finals.
He currently holds the distinction of being both Simon Cowell, the show’s creator, and star judge, and the “first violinist to receive the Golden Buzzer” in the competition’s history.
He performed Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” on the violin for Simon at his audition, winning him a spot in the Quarterfinals. Through Barbara Goodmon of the Capitol Broadcasting Company, the AJ Fletcher Foundation also gave her a new violin in addition to the golden buzzer.
Before becoming famous for appearing on AGT, Tyler was a street performer on North Carolina’s Davie Street.
