Tobi Barake set out to become a professional football player as a young child. He was a good player back then, and Millwall FC was interested in signing him as a professional. He applied for acting classes but was not accepted, so a teacher advised him to do so. Tobi signed up for drama classes at his advice and found himself liking them.
In an episode of the TV show Holby City titled “Countdown,” he had his debut television role as Semper Maynard. He played Andy Farmer in the television show Silent Witness that same year, and he returned in recurrent roles up until 2012.
He had the opportunity to play Anthony Watt in the TV show The Bill and Mate 2 in the series Dani’s House in 2008.
He appeared in many TV shows as a guest actor in 2010, including Casualty as Sam Craven, Playhouse: Live as Fit and PhoneShop as Nightclub Doorman 1.
He had supporting appearances in Doctors as Lee Clough, the TV miniseries The Shadow Line as Andy Dixon, and the movie The Somnambulists as Man 5 in 2011.
