Son of Pedro Pablo Cabrera and Cecilia Perez Walker of Chile Gaete, Santiago Cabrera, was born in Caracas, Venezuela, on May 5, 1978. His family includes a sister and a brother.
His father served as Chile’s ambassador to the Vatican, Beijing, Moscow, and London. He consequently lived all over the world as a child with his family, including Venezuela, England, Romania, Toronto, and Madrid. He regards Santiago, Chile, as his hometown.
Santiago acquired the ability to adapt well to whatever setting in which he was raised. Additionally, he picked up several accents and developed fluency in Spanish, French, and Italian.
Professional Career
While he was in England, Santiago played soccer with a lot of enthusiasm because he was interested in it as a child. While playing semi-pro soccer and even rising to the position of captain in his high school, he entertained the idea of turning pro.
After graduating from high school, Santiago attended the Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile, where he studied psychology until becoming inspired to pursue a career in acting in 2000.
As a result, Santiago studied at the famed Central St. Martin’s College of Art & Design in London’s Drama Centre under the tutelage of Yat Malmgren and Christopher Fettes. Santiago worked various odd jobs throughout his three years at drama school, including pulling a rickshaw and planning parties.
He eventually started to acquire roles in various TV and theater productions during the last year before he graduated in 2003, which helped him realize his passion for acting.
