Jason Alexander, real name Jay Scott Greenspan, was born in Newark, New Jersey, on September 23, 1959. He will be 64 years old in 2023. His ethnicity is Ashkenazi Jewish and his nationality is American.
Jason is the son of Ruth Minnie (mother) and Alexander B. Greenspan (father). His mother was a nurse, and his father worked as an accountant. Jason, along with his half-sister Karen and half-brother Michael, grew up in New Jersey. As a child, he was also fascinated by magic, but as he grew older, he became more interested in theater and pursued acting as a career.
In terms of his education, Jason received his diploma from Livingston High School in 1977. He went on to Boston University but dropped out in his senior year after finding acting work in New York City. Despite this, the University honored him with an honorary degree in 1995.
Career
Jason Alexander began his acting career by performing on stage. He appeared in several Broadway plays and musicals thanks to his singing, dancing, and acting abilities. In 1989, he even won the Tony Award for best leading actor in a musical. Jason landed the role of George Costanza in the TV show Seinfeld not long after. He was nominated for seven Primetime Emmy Awards and four Golden Globes for his portrayal of the character. He did not win any, but he did win the Screen Actors Guild Award in 1995.
Due to Seinfeld’s massive popularity, he quickly rose to prominence and became a well-known figure in the television industry. Jason directed an episode of Seinfeld while also appearing in it. After Seinfeld, Jason appeared in a number of other TV shows, but they were all overshadowed by his performance on Seinfeld.
Jason has appeared in a number of films, including Pretty Woman, The Man Who Saved Christmas, The Last Supper, Dunston Checks In, and Hachi: A Dog’s Tale. He also did voice work for The Hunchback of Notre Dame, House of Mouse, and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, among other Disney films. He’s also appeared in a number of commercials and has worked as a stand-up comedian and host. In 2006, Jason even performed a mentalism and magic act.
