Hantz initially attempted to participate in the CBS reality TV program Pirate Master, but he was rejected. He received an offer to take part in the 19th season of the TV reality series Survivor: Samoa in 2009, two years after being selected for the Pirate Master Cast. He did not squander this fantastic opportunity because it was for him. He typically gravitated toward the part of the story that had the most twists and turns and action. In the Foa tribe, he was given a position of authority.
He rapidly formed a strong belief that called for him to play his part by deceiving others and manipulating their psyche in order to take control of them. He had no idea that there were two Hidden Immunity Idols. Because he received no votes, he was unable to utilize his first idol. The seven votes cast by the Galu tribe were consequently disregarded.
Mick Trimming, the chief of the tribes, was vanquished by Russell Hantz. But because of their disapproval of Russell, the jury decided to give the title of “Sole Survivor” to Natalie White, a member of his tribe. Russell Hantz tried to compete in the 22nd season of Survivor: Redemption Island, when he faced Rob Mariano, during their reunion, but was unsuccessful. Later, he allied himself with the Zapatera people.
He promised that he would pretend to be dead in order to buy the title from the White. He did, however, receive the $100,000 cash award and the Sprint Player of the Season honor.
A last-minute opportunity to take part in the forthcoming season of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains was presented to Russell Hantz. He took Shane Powers’ spot from season 12 of Survivor: Panama. The animosity between him and Boston Rob, the de facto team leader, started there when Mariano happened to spot him while looking for the note that points to the Hidden Immunity Idol. He was then allocated to the gang of villains.
During that moment, Russell Hantz returned to the difference from earlier seasons. However, other tribe members did not take him at his word and supported him in the Tribal Council vote.
After being taken to Redemption Island and winning, Matt Elrod was removed. He declared that he wouldn’t take part in the following competitions, but after the reunion show event, he decided otherwise.
During the fifth season of Australian Survivor: Champions vs. Contenders, Russell took part in a global challenge. He took the Championship tribe’s side. The competitors felt threatened by Russell.
Along with the other ten Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains competitors, Russell made an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman. Hantz and Rob Mariano told the tale of Survivor Smackdown on the cover of TV Guide Magazine.
