Matt Barnes, a basketball player, was born on March 9, 1980, in Santa Clara, California. His mother was white, and his father was of African American descent.
He had a close relationship with his mother in particular. His mother, Ann Barnes, passed away on November 27, 2007, after being diagnosed with lung cancer on November 1, 2007.
