According to her biography, Mary Nickles celebrates her birthday annually on 14 December. She was born into a big family in Renton, Washington. Together with her eight siblings, she was reared by her mother, a state politician, and her father, a telephone repairman. Her father served in World War Two as well. Mary’s father is still active at 94 years old and frequently appears on her social media platforms.
Mary hasn’t said much about her late mother, but it is clear that she had a big influence on how successful she was.
Mary excelled in school from a young age. She graduated from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, with a degree in English. In addition to journalism and academics, Mary is a huge volleyball fan. Prior to working in the media, she spent some time coaching volleyball.

She underwent a lumpectomy that was grade 3 invasive, stage 1, 1.3 centimeters, and triple negative. For over a year, Mary received chemotherapy and radiation treatment, which resulted in numerous side effects, including hair loss.
Mary is grateful to her husband and children for their support today and rejoices in her victory over the horrific illness. She frequently updates her posts and blogs with images and details on how she prevailed in the conflict.

In 1991, Mary Nickles began working as a reporter and anchor for KUTV. She has been hosting 2News This Morning since. Every weekend, Mary also serves as the news anchor from 5:00 to 8:00 am. On occasion, she and Ron Bird co-anchor 2News at Noon. After 25 years as a news hostess, she celebrated her silver jubilee with KUTV in 2016.
