Kristen Kish, an American-Korean model turned chef, rose to recognition after becoming the second woman to win the Top Chef title on Bravo’s reality competition series Top Chef in its tenth season.

After receiving the prestigious award, she and Meredith Erickson co-wrote the cookbook Kristen Kish’s Cooking: Recipes and Techniques.

Prior to participating in the Top Chef competition, Kristen held the position of Chef de Cuisine in a number of renowned Boston eateries, including Chef Guy Martin’s Sensing, Barbara Lynch’s Stir, and Chef Barbara Lynch’s Menton.

From a young age, Kristen Kish started taking cookery classes. She began watching cooking programs when she was five years old and began learning knife skills, among other things. Her enthusiasm for cooking increased after she enrolled in culinary school. And she made the decision to participate in Top Chef after Barbara Lynch, her former boss, suggested it.

Kristen started the competition in 2012, worked hard to advance, and made it to the Restaurant Wars round before being eliminated.

She nevertheless had a second shot and participated in the Last Chance Kitchen. She won that round against five other contestants and advanced to the Top Chef finals.

She faced out against Brooke Williamson in the finals and triumphed admirably to claim the title of Top Chef.
