Top 10 Purple Haired Characters in Anime

Several anime characters are known for their bright, unnatural hair colors. Purple is probably one of the last colors in the rainbow you’d expect to see on someone’s hair.

Purple is such a rare color in nature that it is rarely seen (only few flowers, stones and shellfish are naturally purple). Because of its rarity, it was only used by royalty and nobility in ancient times.

It’s no surprise that this color is associated with royalty, individuality, and power. Purple is such a rare color that it is shrouded in mystery, often connoting magic or the supernatural.

We’ll show you some of the rare and unique specimens with such vibrant color on their heads on this list. We’ve compiled a list of the Top 10 Purple-Haired Anime Characters!

10. Atsushi Murasakibara from Kuroko no Basket/Kuroko’s Basketball

As previously stated, purple is associated with being one-of-a-kind, supernatural, and powerful. These are some of the best words to describe Yosen’s big man. Murasakibara is the colossal heart of the legendary Generation of Miracles, and most likely the game’s most powerful player. He’s a 6’10” (208cm) tall colossus with the strength to dunk over three defenders.

On offense, he’s unstoppable, but on defense, this amethyst-haired demon is flawless. We’re talking about a man who is so big that he can guard the entire three-point perimeter, allowing him to block anyone who dares to shoot from behind the arc. Murasakibara is a one-of-a-kind player due to his superhuman size and strength.

9. Minene Uryuu from Mirai Nikki/Future Diary

Our beloved 9th future diary holder can be found on our 9th spot. Her dark violet hair is a representation of power, ambition, grandeur, and, of course, pride. Uryuu Minene is a cold-blooded psychopath who will go to any length to achieve her goal of becoming the new God. On Mirai Nikki, she makes her debut by blowing up half of the school in order to lure Yuki and Yuno out and kill them.

Her Escape Diary qualifies her as a true survivor, and her tenacity keeps her as one of the Survival Game’s last survivors. She is feminine and romantic at heart, as evidenced by the fact that she has a soft spot for detective Masumi Nishijima by the end of the show.

By the end of the show, she’ll be able to perform some impressive magic. If anyone was going to be given magical abilities, it had to be the purple-haired one…

8. Rize Kamishiro from Tokyo Ghoul

We’ve already talked about how purple is shrouded in mystery and represents supernatural qualities. What could be more supernatural than turning into a flesh-eating demon after receiving a ghoul’s organs? Realizing that a part of that creature lives inside of you, inciting you to murder and eat living people, that’s what.

On our list was the sexiest and most terrifying demon girl in Tokyo. She’s a demon babe with big breasts and the most delicate orchid purple hair you’ve ever seen. Her power and thirst for blood are the only things that can match her refined beauty and femininity.

It’s a pity she dies so early in the series. Fortunately, we can still see her controlling Kaneki’s mind from time to time.

7. Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop

We were not going to leave the Queen of Hearts off our list. This incredibly hot space thief lands on our seventh spot, flaunting her eggplant (yup, that’s a shade of purple) short hair. Her backstory is fascinating; she awoke with a large hospital debt after a 54-year cryogenic coma, which is why she continues to cheat, seduce, steal, and gamble her way through life.

Purple conjures up images of femininity, delicacy, beauty, and grace. Faye possesses all of these characteristics and uses them to get exactly what she wants. She is difficult to trust, but no one can deny that she is a formidable woman.

6. Hiiragi Kagami from Lucky Star!

For a variety of reasons, Kagami-sama had to be on our list. Just one, because she’s so cute. I can’t think of another purple-haired beauty quite like Kagami (except maybe for her twin sister, of course). Her lilac hair represents her femininity, grace, delicacy, and, most importantly, pomposity.

Kagami is well-known for being vain and shallow, frequently fretting over a few extra pounds. She is the group’s tsundere, and as such, she always hides her emotions. She cares deeply about her friends and can be incredibly sweet.

5. Kotomi Ichinose from Clannad

Kotomi-chan is a virtuoso violinist and our favorite purple-haired geek. In fact, anyone who listens to her ends up rolling around on the floor and suffering from ear damage. She is extremely shy and afraid of bullies, but she excels in all academic subjects, which is what makes her so mysterious.

Since she lost her parents in a plane crash, Kotomi’s hair is among the darkest shades of purple, implying that she is in mourning. As a result, Kotomi grew up to be a lonely and depressed adolescent who preferred the company of books to that of her peers. But she’s so sweet and innocent, and I think she’s adorable.

4. Blair from Soul Eater

Blair is one sassy kitten who knows how to flaunt her assets. She can transform into a kitty and use magic, but those aren’t her most lethal weapons. Her greatest asset, in my opinion, is her appearance. This violet-haired beauty exploits her sex appeal for personal gain or simply to tease men.

Men are bleeding out their noses because of her large breasts and her witch outfit, which leaves little to the imagination. She has no qualms about showing herself naked in front of men, which frequently results in the most amusing reactions and situations. Because she is so feminine and a frequent user of magic, she has a lot of purple in her.

3. Nakamura Yuri from Angel Beats!

The founder and leader of the Afterlife War Front, an afterlife school organization, is this magenta-haired girl. Her vibrant hair color reflects both her charismatic leadership and her ability to be cold and logical in difficult situations. She is so tenacious that she is willing to take risks and make sacrifices when necessary.

She can be amusing at times, but she would lay down her life for any of her subordinates. She is willing to fight alone, even if it means suicide, to protect those she loves. Yuri should definitely receive the “Purple Heart” for bravery.

2. Busujima Saeko from Highschool of the Dead

On number two, we finally meet our HOTD’s sweet Saeko. She has good judgment, as her dark, bluish hair suggests, and is very calm and down to earth. She is the captain of Fujimi High School’s Kendo Club and, as such, Komuro’s group’s most powerful survival resource. She kicks zombies in the face with her wooden sword while looking stunning.

Saeko is the most courageous of Komuro’s hot girls. She isn’t afraid to fight the undead at a sword’s distance. She’s got the whole package, including boobs and zombie-ass-kicking prowess. It’s no surprise that Saeko is many of us’s favorite HOTD character.

1. Trunks from Dragon Ball Z

For centuries, kings, emperors, and royalty in general have preferred the color purple. We couldn’t have imagined the son of a Saiyan prince having any other hair color. Trunks is the son of Vegeta, a proud Saiyan warrior, and Bulma, a human.

When he first appears, he is one of the most overpowered characters in the Dragon Ball Z saga, making sushi out of Frieza and King Cold. He’s also the second Super Saiyan we’ve seen, which makes things a little more complicated in the Dragon Ball universe.

He is lighthearted and calm, as his lavender hair suggests, but he is also quite powerful as one of the strongest Saiyans, so try not to enrage him. Purple is also a mourning color, which may reflect the horrors of Trunks’ alternate future, where he is the last of the Z warriors. He’s just awe-inspiring!

Despite the fact that purple is one of the most uncommon hair colors in anime, I’m sure you’d be surprised at how many epic and memorable purple-haired characters there are. Saori Kido (Saint Seiya), James from Team Rocket (Pokémon), Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell), Mizore Shirayuki (Rosario to Vampire), Yoruichi (Bleach), and Dark are just a few of the legends who were left off our list (DNAngel).

They’re all as special and unique as those on our list, as the purple on their heads suggests. This special mention is in their honor. They all look amazing with that hair color, and it makes me want to give it a shot and dye my hair magenta. On the other hand, I don’t think I’d be able to pull it off as well as any of these characters.
