Despite signing Ferguson as a solo artist, Barrett was already forming a trio called The Three Degrees with Fayette Pinkney, Shirley Porter, and Linda Turner. In 1966, Fayette Pinkney, Helen Scott, and Janet Harmon were added to the lineup.
