Riley Barber was born on February 7, 1994, in Livonia, Michigan. Riley is best known as a professional hockey player who was drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Capitals in 2012. He played for the Miami Red Hawks and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League while at Miami University. Riley is from the United States of America. He made his NHL debut in 2017 with the Capitals, who were coached by Barry Trotz.

Barber competed in the 2006 and 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with the Pittsburgh Hornets and then the Detroit Red Wings minor ice hockey teams.

On April 17, 2015, Barber decided to forego his senior season at Miami and signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Capitals. During the 2016-17 season, Barber made his NHL debut with the Capitals against the Edmonton Oilers on February 24, 2017.
