Who is Manisha Valmiki?

Manisha Valmiki (born in 2000) was an Indian citizen and gang-rape victim from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, India. She was born into a middle-class Dalit family and belongs to the scheduled castes. Manisha was a country’s daughter who became a victim of the high-caste people’s injustices due to her low caste.

Manisha Valmiki was born in a poor family in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, India in the year 2000. Her precise birth date is unknown, however according to media accounts, Manisha died at the age of 19. Her father (name withheld) is a farmer, and her mother is a housewife.

According to accounts, she has two siblings: one brother named “Satyendra” and one sister. She was a bright young lady. According to media accounts, Manisha finished her education at a local government school.

Along with her studies, she assisted her parents with their work. The brilliant young lady had many goals in life. But, sadly, all of their ambitions were dashed after this tragic tragedy.

According to media sources, the tragedy occurred on September 14, 2020, in the Boolagarhi town of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, Manisha Valmiki and her mother went to get beast feed (fodder) from a field.

Suddenly, a group of males seized her from behind and dragged her to a field, where she was allegedly abused and gang-raped. He was allegedly dragged so violently by a dupatta (scarf) that he severely injured her spine.

“I was cutting the grass, and Manisha moved to another side to collect more grass,” Manisha’s mother claimed in a statement to the media. When I went to look for her, I was unable to find her. I yelled and ran after her, spotting one of her shoes. There were drag marks nearby. I followed them to find my young girl lying barely conscious with blood oozing from her mouth; she couldn’t speak since her tongue had been slashed.”

Injuries, Treatment, and Death

Not long after the news broke about the alleged assault on Manisha, a few reports confirmed that the victim sustained various injuries and was rendered disabled as a result of spinal wounds. She also allegedly had a wound on her tongue.

According to a cop, the accused attempted to strangle her to death while she was resisting them, and she ended up staying quiet and suffering a major cut on it as a result. According to the victim’s mother, the perpetrators broke her (victim’s) spinal cord, gouged out her eyes, and slashed her tongue.

Manisha Valmiki was initially brought to Aligarh Muslim University’s Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital for treatment following the event. According to accounts, she was subjected to intensive treatment for two weeks.

According to media sources, Valmiki was taken to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on September 28, 2020, after her condition deteriorated. Unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries and died on September 29, 2020, at 6:00 a.m. (morning). Fakhrul Hoda, a medical professional, stated that she had numerous spinal injuries.

The Investigation and the Accused

Satyendra, her brother, filed a police report following the event. The Police Department filed a FIR under IPS Section 307 and the ST/SC Act. According to Hathras Police, they began investigating the incident while Manisha (victim) was receiving treatment at Aligarh’s Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital, and on September 19, 2020, they apprehended the principal suspect, Sandeep.

According to the police, when the casualty was admitted to the hospital, she was unable to give a statement. Following that, on September 22, 2020, Circle Officer, Sadabad, Brahm Singh, recorded Minakshi Valmiki’s proclamation. In her statement, she mentioned the other three people who had been detained and said that she had been abused.

Because of the hints provided by the person in question, the police pursued them, and on September 23, 2020, the subsequent charged, Luvkush, was apprehended. On September 25, the third accused, Ravi, was apprehended, and on September 26, the fourth suspect, Ramu, was apprehended.

Following that, each of the four counts was sentenced to prison. The accused were charged with attempting to carry out an act prohibited by the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989.

Protesting & Forcing Cremation

According to media sources, UP police performed Manisha’s last rites on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, without alerting her family members. When the entire country saw this, along with Manisha’s family, it was filled with rage.

According to reports, Manisha was forcibly cremated at the request of police personnel. Following this occurrence, people from throughout the country flocked to the streets to demand justice for Manisha Valmiki.

Slogans like “UP Police Haye Haye” began to appear all over the place. Following this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the perpetrators of the Hathras gang rape would not be pardoned and would be severely punished shortly.
