In 1964, Sonji Roi, a strong-willed woman, met Muhammad Ali through Ali’s manager, Herbert Muhammad. Ali was known by his previous name, Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., at the time.
On the 14th of August 1964, Sonji and Muhammad married after 41 days of dating. Their marriage, however, did not last long. Sonji was displeased with Ali’s decision to convert to Islam. She also had reservations about accepting and practicing Muslim traditions, as well as following them.
As a result, Muhammad Ali’s first wife, Sonji Roi, divorced Muhammad Ali in 1966 after only two years of marriage. Roi selected the musical industry to forget the pains of separation from her beloved Ali after their divorce.

Sonji Roi returned to Chicago from Miami, where the ex-couple had been living, after their short-lived wedding with Muhammad Ali. There she met Reynaldo Glover, a corporate lawyer, business counselor, and former chairman of the City Colleges of Chicago. After a brief courtship, the two married.
After a few years of marriage, Sonji and Reynaldo welcomed their first child, Reynaldo Glover Jr. The once-romantic pair Roi and Glover have formally broken up after having a child together. The true reasons for their breakup remain hidden from the public eye.

Reynaldo, Sonji Roi’s second husband, has been married three times and divorced twice. Following Sonji’s death, Glover married Pamela Glover. The couple has three children: a son, Ryan Glover, and a daughter, Shea Glover. Glover died of pancreatic cancer in 2007 at the age of 64, after a few years of marriage with Pamela.

Sonji Ali, Muhammad Ali’s former wife, died peacefully at her Hyde Park home on Chicago’s South Side. Roi died of natural causes, according to the Cook County medical examiner.
