The Path to Being an Entertainer Turner attended the University of Kentucky for his undergraduate studies. In her junior year, she dropped out of university and moved back to her hometown. At the University of Missouri, she began her journalism studies. She shaped her career via reporting, camera work, writing, and producing news for the university-owned newsroom (NBC affiliate) KOMU-TV.

Three days before graduation, the four-time Emmy-winning correspondent secured her first job as a reporter at WEHT ABC in Evansville, Indiana. Michael Valentine had hired her at the channel.
After nearly a year and a half at WEHT, she moved to New Orleans to serve as a weekday reporter and anchor for WVUE-TV FOX8. One of her New Orleans reporting highlights was her Hurricane Katrina coverage.
