John Bennett Ramsey is the father of the late JonBenét Patricia Ramsey, who was brutally murdered in December 1996 at the age of six.
Ramsey’s Colorado house was where her corpse was discovered, sexually raped, and strangled. Following the murder, the police first named John and other family members as murder suspects. However, the family was eventually removed from the list by the Boulder County District Attorney in 2008.
In May 2019, a pedophile called Gary Oliva confessed to killing John Ramsey’s daughter JonBenet while serving time in prison, but authorities are currently investigating whether the claim is true or fake.
Wives and children of John Ramsey
John has been married three times but has lost two children during each of his marriages. He had three children with his first wife and university sweetheart Lucinda Pasch before their eldest daughter died in a vehicle accident in 1992 at the age of 22.
After his divorce from Lucinda in 1978, he married Patsy Ramsey, with whom he had two daughters, JonBenet and Burke. In December 1996, their daughter JonBenet was murdered by an unknown assailant.

While the rest of the world was surprised and perplexed over the identity of the mysterious perpetrator of the horrible crime done on JonBenet Ramsey in 1996, the Ramsey family’s life had already taken a radical turn for the worst.
The murder of JonBenet was still fresh, and the investigation was ongoing, but the victim’s own family, father John, mother Patricia, and brother Burke, were named as suspects by police after their daughter’s body was discovered in their house. Not only were John and his family placed on the radar of suspects by the police, but also by the public and media.
The victim’s father, John Ramsey, considered suicide but abandoned the notion due to the support of his wife, who herself was using medicines to sleep at night in order to cope with the loss and accusation. Years later, the Ramseys learned that the DNA discovered beneath JonBenét’s fingernails and in her underwear matched no one in the Ramsey family. Keeping such vital information hidden in the midst of such claims was plain unjust.
The situation worsened for John Benet’s family when one of the documentaries, The Case Of JonBenét Ramsey, attempted to put suspicion on the victim’s brother Burke Ramsey, linking the murder to his childhood scatological fascination. He eventually sued CBS for the documentary but lost.
Burke, JonBenet’s brother, grew up to be a software engineer, and he currently works from home to avoid public scrutiny. Despite the passage of time, the family has unable to come to terms with the murder, owing to the fact that they have no one to blame. While the investigation is still technically open, JonBenét’s half-brother, John Andrew Ramsey, stated in an interview with ABC News on 14 January 2021,

Because of his emotional suffering following the murder of his daughter JonBenet in 1996, John liquidated his million-dollar possessions, including company stock, boats, and even his mansion. His daughter’s loss caused him not just emotional but also financial distress.
His net worth was $6.4 million in 1996. He was the CEO of Access Graphics at the time, which had a market capitalization of more than $1 billion in 1996. His financial situation is currently unknown.
John Ramsey was born on December 7, 1943, in Nebraska, United States. He graduated from Michigan State University and went on to serve as an officer in the United States Navy. By 1996, he had already established himself as a successful businessman while working for Access Graphics.
