Isis realized she was born in the wrong body when she was four years old. She realized that her emotions and physical body were not in sync.
She came out as gay in high school after struggling with her internal and external structures. But she soon realized that it was not what she wanted and moved to New York for a change of scenery. As part of the transition process, she began hormone replacement therapy in 2007.
She couldn’t earn enough money to live in New York, so she went to The Ali Forney Center, a homeless youth shelter, because she couldn’t go home because her family was opposed to her decision to transition.
She lived in the Transitional Housing Program and was chosen to compete on America’s Next Top Model in 2008. She finished 10th on Cycle 11, and her caregiver began from there. She underwent gender reassignment surgery in 2009 and arrived as a fully trans woman.
