Drew Starkey on Playing Rafe Cameron in ‘Outer Banks’ And How He Landed The Role!

Since the mid-2010s, Drew Starkey has been actively contributing to the entertainment sector. When he starred as Rafe Cameron in the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks, he gained a devoted following.

The 27-year-old actor was cast as an elder brother of Sarah Cameron, played by actress Madelyn Cline, in the show. Cameron, played by Drew Starkey, is a deranged dropout who struggles with drugs and has father issues.

And the show’s audience like the North Carolina native for his performance and character development. Starkey, who is most known for his performance as Cameron, had never auditioned for the part in the first place. When questioned how his character was initially characterized, the actor confessed in an interview with Pop Culturalist that he had auditioned for a different role in the show.

He added that he had submitted an audition tape for the role of John B [now played by actor Chase Stokes, but that the showrunners felt he was a better fit for another role. Starkey also went into detail about the casting process and how he was chosen for the role of Cameron.

The actor went on to express his gratitude for the love and support he has received from his fans. He admitted that he wasn’t anticipating so much affection because he had previously played negative characters.
