Andre Agassi- Early Life
Andre Agassi was born on April 28, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Emmanuel Mike Agassi and Elizabeth Betty Agassi, both former Iranian Olympic boxers. His three older siblings are Rita, Philip, and Tami.
Agassi won the National Indoor Boys 14s Doubles Championship in Chicago in 1982. When he was 13 years old, he was sent to Nick Bollettieri’s Tennis Academy in Florida. Because his father only had three months’ worth of money.
Instead, after only a half-hour of watching Agassi play, Bollettieri called Agassi’s father. Agassi dropped out of high school in the ninth grade to focus solely on his tennis career.

Child Haven, Las Vegas’s only residential facility for abused and neglected children, is another beneficiary of the athlete’s generosity. In 1997, Agassi donated money to Child Haven to help them build the Agassi Center for Education, a six-room classroom building. His foundation also contributed $720,000 toward the construction of the Andre Agassi Cottage for Medically Fragile Children.
This 20-bed facility, which first opened its doors in December 2001, provides comprehensive care for children with injuries, contagious illnesses, and physical and developmental needs.

Agassi dated Barbra Streisand in the early 1990s, despite their 28-year age difference. He married Brooke Shields in 1997, and the couple divorced in 1999.

Andre Agassi founded the Andre Agassi Charitable Association to assist young people in Las Vegas in 1994. In 1995, he received the ATP Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for his efforts to assist underprivileged youth. He’s been called the world’s most charitable and socially active tennis player. Sportsman’s charities assist children in realizing their full athletic potential. 2,000 children attend his Boys & Girls Club throughout the year, and he has a world-class junior tennis team.
