Adam Serwer is a well-known American journalist who currently works as a staff writer at The Atlantic. His works are primarily concerned with political issues such as white supremacy, racial issues, and presidential administration.

He is one of Daniel Serwer’s and Jacquelyn Serwer’s two sons. He grew up in a small family in Washington, D.C. with his brother, Jared Serwer.
Daniel Serwer, Adam’s father, is a professor at the John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Middle East Institute scholar. He has also worked at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C.
His mother is the Chief Curator of African American History and Culture at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. She previously served as Chief Curator of the Corcoran Gallery for seven years, beginning in 1999. His father is Jewish and white, and his mother is African-American. In terms of ethnicity, Adam is biracial and Jewish.
His parents met at Haverford College, where they were both students. They fell in love but ran into trouble when they decided to marry. The problem was that there were no rabbis, or Jewish religious teachers, to perform their marriage ritual because interfaith marriage was barely tolerated. But they managed to arrange a rabbi for their wedding and married in 1968. Adam benefited from his parents’ high level of education, both of whom held doctorates.
