Three members of L.A.P.D., James Shaffer, also known as Munky, on rhythm guitar, Reginald Arvizu, also known as Fieldy, on bass, and David Silveria, on drums, formed the band. The beginning of Korn
Korn was founded by three members, James Shaffer, Reginald Arvizu, and David Silveria, who were all members of L.A.P.D. at the time. Silveria joined the band at the age of sixteen. When the band relocated from Bakersfield to Los Angeles, he dropped out of high school.
Shaffer stayed in Bakersfield at first, but eventually joined them. In 1989, Triple Records released their EP, Love and Peace Dude. In 1991, they released the album Who’s Laughing Now as L.A.P.D. They split up after the two albums were released.
Brian Welch and Jonathan Davis were hired by Shaffer, Arvizu, and Silveria to form a band. Corn was proposed as the band’s name, but it was rejected. Shaffer came up with the idea of writing R backwards by replacing C with K. Jonathan Davis is the artist behind the band’s logo.
Underground Chicken Sound, owned by Jeff Creath in Huntington Beach, was rented by the band. Large crowds gathered outside the studio while they were recording, prompting the song “Clown.” The crowd gathered because it sounded different, according to Arvizu. They began performing in gigs in the summer of 1993, and members concluded that touring was a “pain-in-the-ass.”
Paul Pontius, an Immortal Records A&R employee, discovered the band. He described their sound as a “new rock genre.” In 1993, Korn released their first demo album, “Neidemayer’s Mind.” Because of the limited printing, the album was not well received. Evolution of Korn

Between 1998 and 1999, they signed a deal with Warner Chappell Music prior to the release of their third album, Follow the Leader. Between 1999 and 2001, they worked on their fourth studio album, Issues, which was produced by Brendan O’Brien.
After the release of Korn’s sixth album, Take a Look in the Mirror, Brian Welch left the band. He later rejoined the band, however. In 2006, David Silveria left the band as well. Ray Luzier has taken over as the new drummer, replacing David Silveria.
