Inside The Three Decade Long Marriage Of Tracy Pollan and Michael J. Fox!

The wedding of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan took place in 1988. After he was afflicted with a life-ruining condition a few years later, their marriage didn’t get off to the best of starts. The sad news did not, however, shatter their bond. They’ve been sharing that incredible friendship for almost 33 years.

Here’s how Fox and his wife overcame adversity in their life while raising a wonderful family.

Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan’s Long-Lasting Wedding

In the summer of 1985, Fox and Pollan met for the first time. He was a star of the TV show Family Ties, and they met when she auditioned for the show. They worked together for a season after she passed the auditions. They did not, however, begin dating right away. They only reconnected when they were cast together in the 1987 film Bright Lights, Big City.

They only dated for a year before marrying on July 16, 1988. Every tabloid that had its eyes on their wedding was kept at bay, including The National Inquirer, Globe, and People magazine, among others. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease three years later, in 1991. It was a significant personal and professional setback for him, who was only 29 years old at the time.

Pollan, on the other hand, was so powerful when he told the news to his wife that her reaction still brings him to tears 30 years later.

“One of the things I’ll always respect Tracy for is that she didn’t blink at that moment,” he told Willie Geist of TODAY in November 2020.

He remarked of Pollan’s presence throughout his life, “It’s really fantastic to have a companion.”

Fox suffered with alcoholism after his diagnosis, but Pollan remained by his side. When questioned about their secret to a long marriage, she told People magazine that they thought highly of one another.

Pollan advised, “Just give each other the benefit of the doubt.” “I’m sure he thinks I’m trying my best.”

“Find the greatest things about you and the best things about life and celebrate them,” Fox said with his own advice.

When they first started dating, one of the things that brought them together was their sense of humor. That was also the glue that held their relationship together. She was always there for him when he was suffering from the condition. She had a way of making him laugh all the time.

Her strategy for dealing with unpleasant situations was to laugh first, then deal with the problem. They also gave each other compliments. She admired his positivity and thought it was a wonderful addition to her life. He could be upbeat because he assumed she was in charge of everything.

Michael J. Fox forbade the media from attending his wedding

Fox wasn’t concerned about Pollan rejecting his proposal when he proposed to her on December 26, 1987. He was more worried about how to keep their wedding a secret. It started out as a simple privacy issue. However, in February 1988, it became a security issue. A young woman began sending Fox and Pollan frightening letters.

Nonetheless, they chose to marry. They married a few months later, in July, at the modest West Mountain Inn in Arlington, Vermont. They were such a hot pair at the time that the paparazzi spotted their wedding even though he kept the date and location a secret. Helicopters were even utilized to locate it.

Fox was not pleased with the amount of attention his wedding received in the media. He avenged himself a year later with a magazine essay of his own. As he tore every source desperate enough not to let him and his wife have a quiet wedding, he headlined the article in Esquire “Michael J. Fox’s Nuptials in Hell.” In the story, he said that the publications used bribery, deception, and other tactics to get a picture of him and Pollan in their wedding gowns.

His publicist assisted him in preparing for The National Inquirer’s plot to expose his secret ceremony, as well as hiring a security squad.

Many media characterized his wedding as a security circus and the couple’ neurotic’ after failing to get images of the ceremony. The claims, according to Fox, were made by the media.

Sam Michael Fox (born May 31, 1989), twin daughters Aquinnah Kathleen Fox and Schuyler Frances Fox (born February 15, 1995), and daughter Esme Annabelle Fox are the couple’s four children (born on November 3, 2001).
