Kevin Mimms was born and raised in Chicago
Kevin Mimms was born on July 5, 1990, in the United States. He was born and raised in Chicago. Mimms said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune that he hails from the South Side and that his favorite location growing up was Hyde Park. After seeing his enthusiasm for the profession, his parents encouraged him to pursue it. Kevin’s parents were foster children who had a difficult upbringing.
He used to work as a DJ
Mimms began performing at a young age, and his father encouraged him to pursue it, while his mother and grandmother fostered a passion of theater in him.
In elementary school, the Chicago native began participating in acting activities. One of his earliest acting roles was in the theater production of Romeo and Juliet, in which he played Lord Capulet.

Mimms’ acting career began in the Chicago Academy of the Arts, where he majored in Theatre and graduated in 2008. He subsequently went to Webster University (Conservatory of Theatre Arts) and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.
In addition to acting and commercials, Kevin worked as a DJ during his undergraduate years. He was also chosen to perform as the opening act for Girl Talk at a school event. Unfortunately, this was not possible for some reason. Mimms, on the other hand, was given the opportunity to open for performers Rockwell Knuckles and Tef Poe.
Miles’ DJing career may have continued after he graduated from college, as his Myspace site still describes him as an actor/DJ.
During the early stages of his career, he slept in a car
It is not simple for everyone to break into Hollywood. And Mimms has his own struggle tale about breaking into the media profession.
He then bought a one-way ticket to Los Angeles in the hopes of launching his acting career. His mother accompanied him and assisted him in purchasing a used Mustang automobile before leaving the next day.
Kevin’s situation began to deteriorate quickly. He had to sleep in his car for a week since he couldn’t afford an apartment. Unfortunately, his financial condition was anything from steady, even after he found a place to stay.
He turned to taking odd jobs to make ends meet as his debts and expenses mounted. Meanwhile, he continued to submit audition tapes for acting roles.
After a while, he began to receive commercial work. They’re all without an agent. But it wasn’t until the State Farm that he started to get noticed.

Kevin Mimms Owned His Own Business
Mimms had started his own company back in the day. He created the startup Animal House Underground in 2011, while still in college.
It began as a student party house, with the goal of bringing city-style partying to universities.
Students from numerous nearby colleges would go to Animal House Underground, which was located near Webster University.
Later, while operating from the Webster and Washington university campuses, it began to serve students from St. Louis.
It’s unclear whether Mimms’ college hustle is still active at this time.
How did Mimms end up at State Farm?
Kevin received an opportunity to audition for a State Farm commercial while working on his big break. He’d been working for the company for eight years as a phone operator. The candidates who showed up for the audition wore red polo shirts and Khakis. Only Mimms was dressed in a white shirt, gray blazer, and trousers. He was a member of the LA crew.
Rand Harbert, the State Farm CMO, did not recognize him as his Jake, but his wife cautioned him after reading Kevin’s call sheet.

Mimms, in addition to State Farm, has a strong marketing profile. He’s also been seen in a few more commercials. The most well-known is the one shown in Hyundai commercials.
His other commercials appearances include eBay Fashion – alongside Grown-ish star, Yara Shahidi, Ford Escape, Taco Bell National Taco Day, Daytona 500 Super Bowl 2017, Bose Sound Link Color, N.F.L. Fantasy Football.
Additionally, he has also acted in promotional videos of McDonald’s Spicy Creations, T-Mobile Jump! On-Demand, Slim Jim, 5 Hour Energy, Jersey Mike’s, Straight Talk Wireless, Henry’s Hard Sparkling Water, Pepsi Colour Lights, Panera Bread Mac and Cheese advert, and others.
Guest Appearances In Movies And TVs
Aside from commercials, Miles has also done some guest appearances in some notable TV series. The 31-year-old has appeared in episodes of TV shows S.W.A.T. and Criminal Minds. He has also featured himself in other shows such as Underdogs and the film Emmanuel and Me.
Other acting credits of Mimms include American Typecast, Soda Jerks, Lap Dance, The Last Pick, Innocent, and The tragedy of Mother and Son.
Back in 2013, well before becoming Jake, Miles did a small role in a movie, Jake Squared (the film which credited him as Kevin Mimms’ hence the confusion Miss vs Miles). But Miles didn’t play Jake, he, instead, portrayed the part of “Cool Party Guy.” The following year, in 2014, Kevin played a patron of a lap dancing club in Lap Dance.
What Is Kevin Miles Doing Now?
Kevin, as of the present, doesn’t live in Chicago, having moved to LA after finishing school to pursue his acting career. He, however, has said he still misses the city, especially the culture and the food of the area he grew up.
Also, Mimms still considers himself a native of the town and even refers to himself as “South Side Kev”.
Does Kevin Mimms Have A Girlfriend?
Mimms keeps quite a tight lid on his dating details. He, nevertheless, at one time used to date a girlfriend named Emily Gaither.
Both presumably met at Webster University, where Gaither was also a student studying Costume Design. Kevin and his girlfriend Emily Gaither have also starred in several of the latter’s YouTube videos.
In 2017, Gaither and Mimms appeared in public during the premier of Fairy Tail: Dragon Cry in Hollywood. They, however, never addressed the rumors of them dating.
