Slipknot Frontman Corey Taylor Did Not Realise He Had Broken His Neck Until He Had A Physical Examination!

Corey Taylor is an accomplished actor and playwright, but he is most known for heading the hard-hitting rock band Stone Sour and fronting the nu-metal rock shock band Slipknot.

His grandma introduced him to rock music when he was a kid. This paved the way for Taylor’s musical career, and in the early 1990s, Corey Taylor created Stone Sour with Josh Rand (rhythm guitar), Shawn Economaki (bass), and Joel Ekman (drums).

Alice in Chains and Metallica influenced them, and they became popular in their hometown taverns

Guitarist Jim Root joined the band in 1995, but he and Taylor left two years later to start Slipknot. Taylor was known as number eight, and the band wore Halloween masks and utilized numbers as stage aliases.

Iowa (2001), the Grammy Award-winning Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) (2004), All Hope Is Gone (2008), and.5: The Gray Chapter (2008) brought Slipknot national and international success (2014). The band continued to make albums and tour, but in 2016, Taylor’s neck forced the band to postpone their tour.

The Neck of Corey Taylor

Taylor was well-known for his singing, but he was also known for having an unusually large neck. The singer discussed his neck in a video that was released to YouTube. He was on stage in the video, answering questions from the audience. Taylor tempted readers with an audio e-book, explaining that he would only let Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman, and Betty White read his book aside from himself.

Following that, a member of the crowd questioned if he had an 18-inch neck, to which he replied, “Yes, I do.” He went on to say that having such a large neck made it tough because he had to buy an oversized shirt to fit his neck into it.

He also made a joke about not being able to wrap his hands around his neck, which made the audience chuckle.

Neck Surgery for Corey Taylor

After Marilyn Manson’s vocalist injured his neck in July 2016, Slipknot had to postpone the opening weeks of their co-headlining tour. Fans speculated on Twitter, but Taylor took to the platform to clarify the situation. He revealed that he had to have surgery for a broken neck that he didn’t realize was broken until his physical examination.

He underwent surgery on his vertebrae as well as the replacement of two discs in his neck. Fans speculated that Taylor had quit smoking as a result of the surgery, which Taylor refuted on Twitter, stating that this was not the case and that he was stopping because he wanted to.

Taylor was recovering well, according to a separate statement on the band’s Facebook page, and the band had rescheduled the tour dates for August. The singer also thanked his fans for their patience and support.
