Chip Gaines shaves his head to show his support for a good cause. The Fixer Upper star donated his shoulder-length blonde hair and raised donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by cutting it off. The cash raised will go toward the treatment of children with cancer at St. Jude, according to the event’s commitment website.
Chip Gaines came to Instagram on August 27, 2021, to promote a good cause and that he will be giving his hair to Children With Hair Loss, a non-profit organization. Bailey, a cancer survivor child, will receive a wig from the group.
“It was gone in the blink of an eye! It’s all worth it if it means additional children at @stjude are cared for. So we’re going to keep this going till the wee hours of the morning “‘He captioned the post,’ he said. “Hey, @cwhl org, my hair is on the way!”
Chip, Joanna Gaines, and Bailey, whom the former met in 2017, walked into Monument Barber Co. in Waco, Texas, as seen in his Instagram post, which featured a minute-long video. The Magnolia Story author’s long strands were twisted into pigtails for the cut, and Joanna was the one who made the initial snip. In the meantime, she complimented him on his hair, adding, “Chip, you’ve got amazing hair.”
He joked, “You’ve always claimed it looks terrible,” and she responded, “I’ve never seen it this clean.”
Chip, in an email to USA Today regarding Bailey and the charity, said,
Seeing this healthy young man reminded me of why we were drawn to St. Jude in the first place, and why I wanted to participate in another fundraising challenge with him by my side. A day following his post, Chip posted another video on Instagram, this time posing with his bald head, and announced that over $425K had been raised for St. Jude in the allotted time.
He also mentioned that he and his wife had decided to round up the total to $500K and donate additional $50,000 to the Children With Hair Loss foundation.
“The Gaines are unique in that they not only talk the talk, but they also walk the walk. There aren’t many individuals like that anymore “On his post, an admirer left a remark.
Another remarked on his improved appearance as well as his excellent writing skills “That’s fantastic! And the new style is actually rather nice!”
Chip Gaines Has Shaved His Head Before
Chip wasn’t the first person to donate his hair for a good cause. In 2017, the Fixer Upper: Welcome Home cast did his first charitable cut, raising $230,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Over the last few years, he and his wife Joanna have also assisted in the renovation of the hospital’s Target House, which houses families of patients.
The media celebrity told USA Today that he was impressed with St. Jude because the families never get a bill from the hospital for treatment, travel, accommodation, or meals. That’s why he and his long-time partner wanted to do everything they could to ensure that the hospital could continue to serve the families.
“I’ll never forget that moment,” he said of getting his first haircut and having kids put their hands on his buzzed head. “It was, without a doubt, one of the most transformative experiences of my life. When I look at that photo, I still get chills.”
Joanna and Chip Gaines have surely captured our hearts with such gestures. You’re the actual heroes here!
