At the age of 16, American model, artist, and writer Myla Dalbesio won the title of Miss Wisconsin Teen USA in 2004. Her scouts attempted to show her throughout the process as a model of a typical size, but the fashion industry deemed her size to be “not slim enough.”
After a few years of taking medicines, going without sleep, and starving herself in an effort to get the job, she was eventually signed by the Ford Modelling Agency as a plus-sized model.
Her profile unexpectedly increased later in 2014 after she was named the first plus-sized model for Calvin Klein.
