Cokie Roberts was born on December 27, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, as Mary Martha Corinne Morrison Claiborne Roberts.
Cokie was the third child and youngest daughter of her family. She got the name “Cokie” from her brother Tommy, who couldn’t pronounce her given name, Corinne, as a child.
Lindy Boggs, her mother, was an ambassador and a long-serving Democratic Congresswoman from Louisiana.
Speaking about her father, Hale Boggs, was also a Democratic Congressman from Louisiana. He was the Speaker of the House and a member of the Warren Commission.
