Terri Gowdy, nee Dillard, a former beauty queen, and elementary school teacher, is Abigail Gowdy’s mother. Terri was born on September 11th, 1966, and is a native of Spartanburg. She is an ardent Christian and once held the title of Miss Spartanburg. At one point, she competed in and won third place in the Miss South Carolina beauty pageant.

Terri Gowdy is currently concentrating on her job as a teacher. Prior to taking the post of first-grade teacher at Anderson Mill Elementary School in Spartanburg, she worked as a teaching assistant. She is still employed as a teacher in the Spartanburg school system.

In the 1980s, Abigail Gowdy’s parents initially got to know one another through a religious youth group. They then began dating, and in 1989 they got married. Abigail was born in 1997, and Watson Gowdy, the couple’s firstborn son, arrived in 1983. Abigail was raised in Spartanburg and had a loving upbringing. She even had her own dog, a yellow Labrador retriever named Judge, in addition to the many dogs the family possessed.

Even more of a problem for the family was when the criminals her dad punished threatened them. On one occasion, these criminals even visited Abigail’s school as well as their home. They consequently needed police protection for a while. Although it was a difficult time for the entire family, her dad persisted in doing his best until he turned to politics in 2010.

Abigail Gowdy is a future attorney. She liked the finer qualities of the law profession despite the stress that came with her father’s employment. She enrolled in the University of South Carolina to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice and criminology after receiving her high school diploma in Spartanburg. She finished this in 2018 and is currently attending the same university to earn her Juris Doctor.
