Since the Czech Lukas Kaspar in 2004, Tomas was the first European player selected with the Sharks’ first overall pick.
Tomas signed a three-year entry-level deal with San Jose on June 3, 2013, following his selection in the 2012 draft.
He partnered Joe Thornton and Brent Burns on the line during the preseason and contributed one assist in addition to his three goals. Hertl finally made his NHL debut on October 3 against the Vancouver Canucks.
