Tindyeba Agaba Wise was created in a tiny Rwandan village in 1987. He has a story to tell about his early years, even if he is unsure of his biological family’s history.
Back then, he used to reside in his own nation with his parents and three sisters. When he was nine years old, his farmer’s father passed away from AIDS, leaving his family without a source of income.
When Tindyebwa and his sisters were forced to leave school, their mother, who was committed to getting them an education, crossed the border into Uganda and gave her kids to the nonprofit organization Care International.
However, a number of years later, Rwanda saw its worst political crisis, and genocide was escalating there.
Care International and other assistance organizations consequently left Uganda. The only option left to Tindyebwa and his sisters was to go back to their village.
He spent a year residing in their community before he and his sisters were taken prisoner by the militia.
He was imprisoned in the army’s base camp as a child soldier while his sisters were separated from him as they were transported across the border into the Democratic Republic of the Congo with other youngsters.
He managed to leave the military base camp where he had spent the previous 2.5 years living dangerously before returning to his village in the hopes of finding his mother and sisters.
Sadly, the local police there apprehended him and imprisoned him on the grounds that he had voluntarily rebelled against them.
After serving eight months in jail, Tindyebwa broke out and crossed the border into Uganda, where a Care International employee discovered him.
