Shawn was 20 years old when he started working seven days a week in San Antonio. He didn’t have much time to see his old high school friends. In his previously mentioned publication, he stated that his life was quite uninteresting. After some time, he told his mother that he should get a girlfriend. And his mum explained,
“What about the girl from Wood?” How about You, Theresa? She was always a lovely young lady.”
Shawn began to think about her after that. He last saw Theresa two years ago, when he was 18 years old and she was just 14 years old. He was first unsure whether it would be appropriate to date a 16-year-old girl at the time.
The former wrestler later discussed it with both of their mothers. Soon after, Theresa and Shawn began going to the movies together, and they finally began dating.
He described Theresa as “lovely” in his book.
“Theresa would accompany me to shows, but I never brought her in the back.” Back then, no one took their girlfriends backstage, so she sat in the arena before and throughout the events. Shawn gave her a diamond ring for Christmas two weeks after they started dating. It was his mother who suggested he give Theresa the ring. He remembered,
“She sobbed when she saw it.”
His mother also spoke forward, saying,
“Oh my goodness, they got married!”
Shawn, on the other hand, had no notion that giving Theresa the diamond ring meant they were engaged. He stated,
“I had no idea you only purchased someone a diamond ring when you wanted to get engaged.”
After everyone assumed they were engaged, Michaels simply objected since the two were not mature enough.
Shawn began wrestling shortly after. Although he became increasingly preoccupied with his fledgling job, his then-girlfriend Theresa would pay him visits now and then.
