The Highlander actor and Micheline had been residing in the country since the 1990s before his passing.
“For him, it was no life. Later, he was unable to communicate. At least he passed away peacefully while sleeping. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted.”
said Roquebrune.
The officials listed the cause of death as ‘respiratory failure due to pneumonia, old age, and atrial fibrillation – a condition causing an irregular and fast heart rate.
Micheline Roquebrune And Sean Connery’s Final Moments
Reflecting on her life with her husband, she said: “He was gorgeous and we had a wonderful life together. He was a model of a man.
“It is going to be very hard without him, I know that. But it could not last forever and he went peacefully.”
Following the death of actor Sean Connery, Moroccan-French painter Micheline Roquebrune released a heartfelt tribute to her husband of 45 years.
She referred to him as a gorgeous man with whom she had a wonderful life.
“When I met Sean, I knew I was taking on the whole package. Everyone wants him and I have to accept and understand that,”
Roquebrune says of her deceased husband. She also put up with Sean’s affairs with Lynsey de Paul in 1989 and Nina Kraft in 1996.
In his final few years, Roquebrune’s husband, Sean rarely left the gated Lyford Cay community where he spent his retirement after packing in acting in June 2006. He had since then become a virtual recluse and had given his agent strict instructions to reject all movie offers.
Connery who had a net worth of over $ 350 million reportedly had set up an effective trust and estate planning in place to ensure his wife Micheline would be well taken care of.
When reported in Nov 2021, Connery’s widow was planning to head to Scotland as per her gone-husbands’ wish.
