Samantha pursued her schooling at Central High School in Phoenix. Following her high school graduation, she enrolled at The King’s College in New York City.

Samantha, however, changed schools to Liberty University after Liberty’s Senior Sports Producer Bruce Carey offered her a position as a sideline reporter with the Liberty Flames sports television network.

Career

Samantha submitted an application for an ESPN Zone hostess position while she was in New York City. There she met Ben Keeperman, an ABC Sports Radio manager and researcher for college football. She was able to land an internship with the network thanks to his knowledge, and she later joined ABC-college TV’s football studio show as a research assistant.

Samantha departed Liberty in 2009 and began working as a sideline reporter for Big 12 and Pac-10, college football and basketball games for Fox College Sports and Fox Sports Net.

On July 7, 2011, ESPN’s Longhorn Network made the announcement that Samantha had been hired as a sideline reporter. The first three talent retainers for the newly established network were Samantha, Lowell Galindo, and Kevin Dunn. She relocated to Austin, Texas, after taking her position with the Longhorn Network.

On Saturdays at 10 AM ET on ESPN, Samantha took over as host from Erin Andrews. She also shared hosting duties for ESPNU’s Saturday 9 AM ET program. In addition to her responsibilities on College Gameday, Samantha served as a frequent sideline reporter for Pollack, Jese Palmer, and Rece Davis on ESPN’s Thursday Night College Football from August 2012 until 2014.

Ponder also served as the Battlebots season 16 host in 2016.

Married Samantha is a woman. On December 17, 2012, she joyously married her longtime partner Christian Ponder in Hudson, Wisconsin, at the age of 26.

Christian, her spouse, was a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings at that time. He is a few years Samantha’s junior.

Bowden Sainte-Claire, a daughter, was born to the couple in 2014. She bears the name of Bobby Christian Florida State coach. The couple then welcomed a girl named Price in July 2018 and a son named True in June 2017.
