Professional Career, (Tennis Player)

When he was 15 years old in 2001, Nadal chose Tennis and decided to pursue it as a career.

Since then, he has won numerous titles and is usually ranked first or second in the Association’s rankings.

Beginnings of a Career

Nadal focused on junior titles as a junior, and at the age of 15 years and 10 months, he won the ATP match, becoming the ninth player in the Open Era to do so before turning 16.

In his second and final appearance in the ITF Junior Event, he assisted his country in defeating the United States in the Junior Davis Cup final.

Nadal won two challenger titles and reached No.49 at the age of 17, which is an incredible accomplishment for someone so young, as many people do not reach that level in their entire career.

Nadal had a fantastic year in 2005, winning 79 matches and finishing second to Tennis Legend Roger Federer.

In 2005, they both won 11 singles titles and four ATP Masters Serie titles, breaking Mats Wilander’s teenage record.

Nadal was named the ATP’s most improved player of the year and became the first player since Mats Wilander to win the French Open on his first attempt.

2006 – 2007

In 2006 too, Nadal performed extraordinarily. After defeating Roger Federer in the finals, he won the French Open and the Dubai Duty-Free Men’s Open.

He won the majority of European tournaments, including the Open Sabadell Atlantico and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

Except for the Australian Open, which Nadal had to miss due to a foot injury, he performed admirably in all of his matches, despite losing a few.

In 2007, Nadal won his third French Open, defeating Federer in the finals and going for the third year win.

Federer was once again responsible for ending Nadal’s 81-match winning streak in 2007. The French Open was his only title this year as well.

2008 – 2009 Nadal had a fantastic year in 2008, reaching the finals of the Chennai Open, the Miami Masters, and the Australian Open semifinals.

For the third year in a row, he won the Masters Series Monte Carlo, the Open Sabadell Atlantico, the Masters Series Hamburg, and the French Open.

Nadal also won the 2008 Wimbledon after playing the second-longest match in Wimbledon history, which many critics consider to be the best match in tennis history.

And eventually became World No. 1 himself. He also won gold medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Rafa Nadal won his first Australian Open in 2009, but for the first time since he began competing in the French Open, he was defeated by Robin Soderling.

The Previous Five Years

He did not win a major Grand Slam event in 2015, ending a 10-year streak of winning one major each year. He had back-to-back injuries, and his ranking dropped continuously.

He won his second Olympic gold medal in 2016, but he did not fare well because a wrist injury forced him to withdraw from the 2016 Wimbledon and French Open.

Rafa Nadal returned to form in 2017 by winning two major titles. With his tenth French Open title, he became the only tennis player, male or female, to win a single Grand Slam tournament ten times.
