Peggy Fleming was born in San Jose, California, to newspaper journalist Albert Fleming and former US marine Doris Elizabeth Fleming.
She is the youngest of four sisters. The former A.B.C. commentator has two younger sisters, Maxine and Kathy Fleming, and an older sister, Janice Fleming.
At the 1968 Olympics, the World Champion Skater was accompanied by her mother, Doris.
Peggy’s younger sister and father both died of heart disease. Her father died just months before she won Olympic gold at the age of 17.
