The pair met at a cocktail party at the College of William and Mary in 1978 through a mutual friend. They started dating right away and were engaged shortly after graduation. Since then, the rest is history.

Patrice Comey and her husband, James, who measures 6 feet 8 inches tall, brought their first child, Collin Edward Comey, into their life on August 4, 2005. When their son was born, he weighed 7 pounds and 6 ounces. When Collin, the couple’s son, was 16 months old, he was diagnosed with Group B streptococcal disease. He died despite the knowledge that the bacterial infection could have been treated. Collin’s cause of death was the subject of a lengthy op-ed column written by Patrice after his death. “She campaigned for bacterial testing during pregnancy,” she stated.
Patrice writes in her column that her nine-day-old baby died one month ago today. Her son died of a treatable illness, she claimed. She’s sharing her ordeal in the hopes of helping other pregnant ladies avoid the same fate. Patrice and her husband, James, are the proud parents of five foster children, Abby, Claire, Brien, Kate, and Maurene Comey. One of their foster children, Maurene, graduated from Harvard Law School in the class of 2013. She presently works as an assistant attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
