He played a crucial part in the development of the polymers Caprolactam and Polyamide when he was at the institute. Additionally, he made significant contributions to the creation of Silon, a synthetic fiber. He studied organic chemistry in depth at the university and has authored books on the subject.

He began working on his other doctorate in plastics technology in 1949 and devoted the rest of his life to it.
