Nalini Sriharan has been Arrested?
Thenmozhi Rajaratnam assassinated Indian former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991. Following the investigation, police apprehended around 24 persons, seven of whom were found guilty of actively participating in the assassination. Nalini and her spouse Murugan were also among them. Following her arrest in May 1999, the court condemned four people, including Nalini, to death.
The judge rejected her request. She allegedly attempted suicide at Vellore Special Prison for Women in 2020, but police subsequently confirmed that she just threatened to commit herself. For emergency circumstances, the court only granted her release a few times. She is presently serving her time in prison.
