Mohamed Sanu Sr. was born in the United States, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Samuel Sanu and Aminata Koroma are his parents.

Furthermore, the footballer comes from a Muslim family, and his parents are originally from Sierra Leone, a country on West Africa’s southwest coast. Similarly, Mohamed lived there for a time before returning to the United States.
