Mayim Bialik was born into a Jewish household on December 12, 1975, in San Diego, California. Mayim attended Walter Reed Junior High School and earned her high school diploma in 1993 from North Hollywood High School in California.
Her early interest in science and medicine inspired her to enroll in UCLA, where she majored in neuroscience. Mayim earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from UCLA, with majors in Hebrew and Jewish studies.
Mayim took a detour from her academics to pursue acting after continuing her education by pursuing a doctorate in neuroscience. In order to complete her Ph.D. in neuroscience, she went back to UCLA in 2007.
