Maya Wiley Parents, Age

On January 2, 1963, in a low-income area of the city, Maya Wiley was born. Up until the age of ten, she was reared there with her younger brother. Her family thereafter relocated to Washington, D.C., where she finished her early years. Her late parents, George A. Wiley, and Wretha Wiley reared her and her brother in a political family. Maya’s mother constantly pushed her to live a normal life, while her father was a prominent figure in the civil rights movement.

The family had a long history of racial politics, and her father, George A. Wiley, was frequently detained for his involvement. Tragically, while sailing, Maya’s father fell overboard and drowned. He was being pushed onto the line by Maya. She witnessed her father’s passing and was traumatized by the event for a while.

She pulled herself together, though, and began to resemble her father’s enthusiasm, which inspired her to follow in his footsteps.

She continues to post about her father on social media because she still thinks of him, admires his work, and remembers him.

During her time in college, Maya was quite active in ECAs. She graduated from Dartmouth University with a psychology degree and Columbia University School of Law with a law degree.

Maya has also held positions as senior vice president for social justice and chair of the NYC Civilian Complaint Review Board. She has also served as co-chair of the school diversity working group. At the age of 55, Maya established herself as a reputable activist who works as a Legal Activist for NBC News and MSNBC.

Maya Wiley Husband / Partner

Harlan Mandel, Maya’s longtime partner, is her husband. The CEO of the Media Development Investment Fund is her husband Harlan. Together with their two daughters, Naja and Kai, Maya and her husband enjoy a happy existence. One of her daughters is a feminist who is carrying on her mother’s efforts.

Maya revealed in a March 2019 interview that she and her girls frequently made fun of Maya’s hair. People frequently commend Maya’s hair as a wonderful braid and ask her to touch them once because of how differently curled it appears. And for laughs’ sake, she and her daughters keep warning people not to touch her hair.

Maya frequently shares photos of herself and her girls on social media because she is so proud of both of them. Her relationships with both of her daughters are close.

She resides in Brooklyn, New York City, with her family. Given that Maya frequently discusses her spouse and girls on social media, it is safe to infer that she is married and teaching her daughters all the modern values she received from her parents. Romeo and Maxie, two cats, are also a part of the household.
