After Matt’s parents separated, Howard went in with his dad while Matt remained with his mother. Matt was gay from an early age, but he was reluctant to tell his mother, the person he was most close to.
When Matt was 25 years old, he initially came out to his mother. The idea that she would never have grandchildren grieved his mother, who also believed that Matt’s homosexuality was the result of her overprotectiveness of him. Matt, however, argued that she had never repressed him and that one does not become gay due to circumstances or personal choice.
When Matt came out to his brother, Howard was reluctant to accept the information and asserted that Matt wouldn’t know until he tried “it” with a woman. Later, Howard enthusiastically embraced reality and his brother’s gay orientation.
Matt, however, never outed his father, and this truth still traumatizes him. Matt was really unhappy that he had never had the confidence to come out to his father about his sexuality when he unexpectedly passed away at the age of 52. But one of Matt’s aunts later said that his father was aware of Matt’s sexual orientation and had no problem with it.
Matt Lucas Partner, Husband?
When Matt Lucas first met TV producer Kevin McGee in 2000, he had his first love. After around four years of dating, Matt and Kevin, who were deeply in love, entered into a civil partnership in 2006.
A pantomime-themed reception was part of the lovely wedding, and notable celebrities including Sir Elton John and Courtney Love were present.
However, due to Matt’s husband Kevin’s drug addiction problems, their marriage did not endure very long. The couple separated and filed for divorce in less than two years.
The tragedy is not over yet; in October 2009, 10 months after their divorce, Matt’s ex-husband Kevin took his own life. Kevin McGee even wrote on Facebook a few hours before he hanged himself, “Kevin McGee thinks death is much better than life,” when he was discovered dead in his apartment.
When Matt learned of Kevin’s passing, he was grieved and found it difficult to recall earlier times. He tried to divert himself by having sex with men he met online and eating a lot of food, but it didn’t really help.
Matt struggled for a very long time to move on and find love. When Matt connected with YouTube artist Luke Uptown on social media in 2015, he discovered love once more. He and Luke have been interacting frequently and have even been spotted together on multiple occasions.
With his new love interest, Matt appears to have finally moved past his tragic background. They have been together for four years and are very content. He deserves every bit of joy in the world, without a doubt!
