On January 22, 1971, in New Jersey, Matthew Charles Iseman was born to mother Joan/Jan and father Michael Dee “Mike” Iseman (Christensen).
His family first relocated to Happy Canyon Road, Colorado, when he was just a year old, staying there for a whole year before finally settling in Cherry Hills, Arapahoe County, Colorado.
His father is a Princeton University graduate who is a well-known pulmonologist and tuberculosis specialist. Thomas, Matt’s brother, is also married and the father of a child. Thomas resides in Denver, Colorado’s Curtis Park.
1989 saw Matt Iseman graduate from Denver, Colorado’s Cherry Creek High School. He next went to Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, where he eventually earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a History major in 1993.
He also enrolled at Columbia University’s Medical School, Physicians, and Surgeons in 1994, earning his MD in 1998. A residency at the University of Colorado Hospital followed.
He considered switching to comedy, which he felt was his actual passion but did not finish his residency. When Matt told his father about his love of comedy, his father said, “Life is brief. Do whatever brings you joy.”
Following that, Matt reconnected with Brad Nieder, a friend from high school, and they attended a few open mic events in New York, including the New Talent Night at Comedy Works for a full year. Then he relocated to Los Angeles, where he started to perform at comedy clubs and quickly became well-known.
In 2004, on the reality game program Scream Play, Matt finally made his way into the realm of television. He gradually started acting and hosting roles in a number of well-known TV shows, such as Clean House (2006–2011) and Act-Anon (2013).
