Famous American photographer and journalist Marika Gerrard co-founded Los Angeles News Service with her ex-husband, newscaster Zoey Tur.
Yet, Marika Gerrard had to work just as hard to reach her career peak before she was successful. She began her career by working for the LA Times, where she established a reputation for herself by writing on important subjects like The Laurel Canyon Murders. In 1983, Marika and her ex-husband started the news organization Los Angeles News Service. During this time, the company recorded audio and video records of significant events and even aired a high-speed police chase.
Marika has been interested in videography since she was a small child since she has always enjoyed photography. She recorded the OJ Simpson car chase in 1994 and the attack on Reginald Denny during the 1992 riot while working as an aerial videographer for a corporation till 1997. Marika’s romantic journey has been a unique one. In the summer of 1978, she met her ex-husband Bobby Tur, who was also majoring in journalism. Bobby was five years her junior when they first met at the Westwood’s Bruin Theatre, where she worked. Bobby, however, asked Marika out nevertheless because he had fallen in love with her right away.
The first date the couple had was to a flying lesson. Marika and Bobby soon moved in together, taking their relationship to the next level. And soon after Marika became pregnant with their first child, Katy, in 1983, they were flooded with joy. After Katy was born, Marika and Bobby got married. In 1985, James Tur, the couple’s second child, was born.
The pair was in love and happy until their marriage broke down one day in 2003. They didn’t say why, but when Bobby came out as transgender in 2013, everything became evident. He explained that he had always felt like a girl from an early age while adopting the name Zoey Tur. In the journalism and entertainment sectors, Zoey has established an enormous reputation for herself.
As of right now, Marika no longer works as a journalist or photographer and is single. All of her children are now adults; her son James works in medicine and her daughter Katy is a novelist and television journalist.
